The 己巳 day pillar, the Earth Snake, is a garden in early summer: warm, fertile, and full of things other people planted. In Korean saju, the Four Pillars tradition shared across East Asia, your day pillar is the stem-and-branch pair of your birth date, and its stem is you. 己 is yin Earth, the soil of fields and gardens. 巳 is the Snake, the month summer begins.

Because it’s hidden rather than showing on the surface, this pillar is often read as having strong opinions it keeps underground. The habit worth building is releasing them early in small, kind doses instead of one late, cutting remark.
